A Beginner’s Guide To Scrapbooking
Scrapbooking is a hobby that’s really popular these days. It enables you to preserve or showcase memories through photos and other items. More than just having a certain skill and patience, it requires you to express your creativity. Unlike conventional photo albums, scrapbooking lets you preserve memories in a unique and artistic way.
You can go as simple as you like, or be very fancy to your heart’s delight. There’s no rule on how you fill up your scrapbook album, or what to fill it up with. If you wish to get ideas, you can always go online and browse through free scrapbooking tutorials. You will find inventive ways on how to come up with one, especially if you’re just starting out on the hobby.
Collating the materials you will need should not be a concern. Since it’s really popular, there are now specialty shops which cater exclusively to scrapbookers. Nevertheless, scrapbooking tools, materials and embellishments may be purchased at regular arts and crafts shops. You may also find cutters, craft knives, adhesives and others at school or office supplies shops.
When it comes to embellishments, you can always go for simple or intricate ones. As a beginner, you may always purchase ready-to-use decorations, such as stickers, stamps, cardboard cutouts and borders. It’s not unlikely for those who are hardcore scrapbookers to even use die-cutting tools, stencils and others.
Make the project extra special by including photos that are truly priceless. How about that snapshot of your husband’s huge smile after receiving his dream digital sport watch for a gift on his birthday? Or how about that snapshot of your son’s excited look on his face on his first trick or treating night? It may be a photo of any event, as long as it has that certain uniqueness to it.
Scrapbook pages need not contain only photographs. You may include local newspaper clipping of an article where a family member has been mentioned. Or a postcard bought during your first trip to a distant island paradise. Even your son’s hair from his very first haircut may be included on the pages. Just remember to go for flat items so as not to end up with a bulging finish product.
Each page can be enhanced by using embellishments, to further capture the mood of memories you wish to preserve. For instance, a page is about your daughter’s fairytale themed birthday party. First, you can spread photos of her donning her pretty costume. Then you may add glittery cut-outs of stars, stickers featuring popular fairytale characters, and many other trimmings.
Scrapbooking is a great way to compile and preserve all sorts of family milestones. It’s a worthwhile hobby, which lets you put your creativity into good use. When having guests over you house, your creations will make for a great conversation topic.
