Photo Portfolio Book: A Beginners’ Guide

Are you starting out your career as a photographer and are looking to enter successfully into this exciting industry? If you have a bunch of good photos already, you need to start making your photo portfolio book to display your talent when it comes to taking photographs. You do not need to immediately buy portfolios that are very expensive, especially if this is your first time to organize a portfolio of your photos. Avoid putting stickers or different designs on the cover for it will only make you amateurish instead of professional. Focus not on the cover but on the contents. Note that you are making a professional collection of photos here and not a scrapbook for family and friends to see. You are displaying your most beautiful pieces that will exhibit your skills as a photographer so that you will have a place in the industry.

If your pictures are not very big, stick with at most 8×10 portfolio. You can also choose smaller sized photography portfolio if you have pictures that are regularly sized, although it will be easier for others to evaluate your talent if the sizes of the pictures are larger than average. After choosing your portfolio, begin organizing your photographs. If you have plenty of photos, you may want to organize them by theme, meaning one portfolio for each theme be it wedding shots, nature photos, or food pictures. The thing is, you have to organize them by theme so that it will be easier to review your photos. Whichever photo your chose to display, try to achieve some form of organization. You may want to arrange it from the simplest photos to the more artistic and complicated shots. This arrangement will display that you are a versatile photographer and that you can take on any assignment that will be given to you. Do not hurry to compile your photos. Think carefully as to which ones to include in your portfolio. Your collection of photographs should display your talent as a photographer. Have someone evaluate your photos especially if you cannot decide which one to include in your album.

Once you have finished your portfolio, you will soon realize that doing this is very easy. If you are planning to make other sets of photography portfolios, you can already invest in the more expensive types, such as those that are made of leather or steel. Show your portfolio to others so that they may review your work and give appropriate feedback before bringing it to your job interview. It may also help if you have a digital copy of your portfolio online for easier access. Hopefully, with a well organized portfolio, getting into the colorful world of photography will be easy for you.
